Template for review by a lawyer in your jurisdiction before launch. It is not legal advice, and the clauses below are the operative ones your compliance story depends on — do not delete them to simplify.
Kamo is an inbound privacy service. When someone calls a Kamo number assigned to you, we connect that call to a phone number you have verified as your own, presenting a caller ID drawn from numbers we own. We do not place calls on your behalf, do not alter what recipients of your outbound calls see, and do not make any call free from lawful carrier records.
Masking is invoked exclusively by the recipient of a call — you. A caller cannot request, trigger, or benefit from it. You may not resell, automate, or expose this service in any way that lets a calling party control how they appear to a recipient.
You must be 18 or older. You must verify ownership of the destination number. Plans above five protected contacts require identity verification.
You may not use Kamo to:
We do not ask why you use the service, and we cannot read your protected contacts or call history. But a credible report of any of the above results in suspension pending review, and we cooperate with valid legal process.
By design we hold no key capable of decrypting your protected contacts or call history. In response to valid legal process we can produce account records, billing information, call metadata (times, durations, coarse origin), and encrypted blobs we cannot open. We cannot produce plaintext we do not have. See Security.
Your encryption key is generated on your device and wrapped under your PIN and recovery code. If you lose both, your history becomes permanently unreadable and we cannot restore it. This is a consequence of the privacy guarantee, not a defect.
Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. Plans include a monthly minute allowance; usage beyond it is not billed automatically. Calls go to voicemail until a top-up is purchased or the allowance resets. Trials do not require a payment method. On failed payment, masking is paused rather than silently disabled, so you are never surprised by real numbers reappearing.
Numbers are licensed to you for the subscription term, not sold. On cancellation a number returns to inventory after a quarantine period and may later be reassigned.
We depend on upstream carriers. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service and Kamo must not be relied on for emergency communications. Emergency calls are not supported through Kamo numbers.
You may cancel any time. We may suspend or terminate for breach of section 4, non-payment, or where required by law or our carriers.
Report suspected misuse via the abuse form or abuse@yourdomain. Reports are reviewed every business day.
